Road Trip (Riders Edge) Part II: The Way Down

Once I meet up with Dan though the ride all of a sudden became a whole different story!!!

The Route: [MAP FROM Abergele TO Llandrindod]

View Abergele to Llandrindod in a larger map

On this route you get immediately into the whole reason for the trip…. Riding on (challenging? Kinda, but more relaxed tbh) roads that has very little traffic on!

We took a steady pace, because lets face it who wants to rush a ride like that, especially when you have all day Continue reading “Road Trip (Riders Edge) Part II: The Way Down”

Road Trip (Riders Edge) Part I: The Meet-up

OK, so the, premise to this is that I had spoken with some friends previously about an Advanced Riders Course and that its something worth doing. One of my friends (Dan) ended up in conversation with my dad on the very same subject and mentioned that he was planning on doing a course of that nature down in South Wales at the Harley Davidson instruction centre – Riders Edge. As it was coming up to my birthday my dad ran the idea past me and of course I jumped at the chance!

Road trip + Advanced course + Harley experience = What’s not to love! Continue reading “Road Trip (Riders Edge) Part I: The Meet-up”

My first Ride-out: to the Ponderosa

Having been on many short ride-outs, either on my own or with A.N. Other person, this is the first of merit to let you know about!

As with most of these events, it started with a phone call the afternoon before from a longstanding friend(s Dad, Philip) asking if I like to join then on a ride at 11am the next day. (The friend, Liam, lives in London so these ‘group’ Ride-outs only come by when he’s visiting home).

I cleaned the bike down and fuelled her up in prep for the next day, which reminds me, the bike still hasn’t been named! Suggestions welcome!

Motorcycle Licence: Part II: The Lessons & Test

After now passed our CBT it was just the big hurdle of the Bike practical test and the inconvenience of the theory test that we had to overcome!

The beast had dropped off the radar at this point happy with his CBT accomplishment, which left Captain Slow and myself to get our lessons booked in and completed with the run up to our tests. This wasn’t easy as Tim has a busy schedule and I am pretty easy going, so the first couple of lessons we took apart. Also due to Tim’s solid performance on the CBT day out he didn’t need as many lessons as me to get up to standard.

2 weeks to go till the first lesson… Continue reading “Motorcycle Licence: Part II: The Lessons & Test”

The Motorbike Licence Part I – The CBT

Well, as a lot of items on my ‘to do’ list actually involve a motorbike, it was about time that I pulled my finger out and actually did what I had been debating for many years…. and try to pass my Motorbike licence!

From what had started as drunken chats like: “Yeah, that would be awesome, let do our bike licence” for about 3 years, it took an organised man (Tim Williams, later known as Captain Slow) to call around for quotes and availability for instruction to finally book us in for our CBT.
