The Acoustic Guitar

After learning a series of guitar solos on the electric guitar I found that there was a hole in my skill set! I could learn the tab for playing some awesome solo’s but when it came to stringing them together with some chords to play a complete song I started to struggle!

With this in mind, I started thinking that I should get an acoustic guitar and put in some proper chord work to get me underway.

To that end I got an acoustic guitar for Christmas from the girls.

I immediately opened up Ultimate-guitar website and started looking for tabs/chords for songs that I liked and knew that I could try and play!

Well, I got as far as learning usual Oasis – Wonderwall, Foo Fighters – Everlong and Tracy Chapman – Revolution, but let’s face it, these weren’t the most taxing of songs, i needed to push myself further, I needed some structure!

So I read and read as much as I could around chord formation and progression, and pretty quickly found out that its going to be a long learning process, and I just had to jump in a keep learning to play different songs, by different people.

I quickly found that through practicing my chord formations on the acoustic guitar, my playing also got a lot cleaner on the Electric guitar which was just the desired effect.

But it was becoming quite apparent that I just needed more practice time and some formal instruction!
