The Electric Guitar Lessons

Electric Sessions: \,,\ (..) /,,/

It started with Electric…
It rapidly improved with Acoustic…
And now its back to the roots R’n’F’n’R on the Electric Guitar again!

I won’t labour too much on the history of this as I’ve mentioned it in earlier posts [POST=321], but, I’ve now done the full circle from trying to play along with my mate when I was 13, giving up for 10 years, getting some electric lessons, playing in some Acoustic Lesson Sessions and now back to Electric Lesson Sessions, with what feels like a much better equipped skill-set and mindset…

Along every stage I have felt that I taken something from it something that has stayed with me and made me want to progress.

When I was 13 tinkering around on my mates guitar made me want to be a rock god! but more importantly got me listening to music that I love and still love today. The likes of Guns N Roses, Metallica, Pearl Jam, Extreme, Def Leopard… (you get the idea)

After the sabbatical to sport the electric lessons got me hooked again…

The acoustic lessons made me think more around the basics of it all, and lets face it… get in touch with the inner hippy camp fire side of playing!

And now were ready to ‘Rock Out’ to the all New Electric Sessions With Mark & co at the Dog & Partridge in Bollington!

I’ll skip the structure of the lessons as to be honest they follow the same structure as the acoustic lessons [post=489] but with a ‘Cheesy Riff’ section added in somewhere in the 2 hrs, a must for all Guitar Hero Wannabe’s!

The biggest change apart from the fact that everybody is now wired to the mains is the room! Mark has spared no effort here! the Mock tudor back drop is no more, replaced with a wall of black cloth, but the real bonus is the lighting rig and smoke machine that get used on special occasions! 😀 (Wednesday nights!) AWESOME!

As you can imagine it’s all about Power Chords, Solo’s & Great Riffs. The first song out of the bag was Free – Alright Now, now who hasn’t wanted to rip that one out before now?! No! … LIAR!

There’s not many places you can learn guitar, have a beer, ask questions of an instructor and make sh1t loads of noise, all whilst having a thoroughly enjoyable time!

Also like the acoustic sessions, Mark does take requests on the songs you go over, which is good.

I can honestly say that I’m really happy with the progression I’ve made in coming from a basic understanding of Electric guitar, then moving to Acoustic and now back to electric…. I certainly feel like I have a more rounded skill set.
