Dream Garage (Cars)

Everyone should have one, and most people have got an opinion on one, it comes from a money no object, personal preference standpoint, so there are always many differences of opinion which is what makes it good fun to list, and see a list of them! so what’s your dream garage? Add you comments below as to what you’d have in yours!

My view is that you have to go for ‘one for each occasion’ others may well think that you have to amass a collection of Sports exotics… whatever takes your fancy. With that in mind my ‘Dream Garage’ would have:

1. A daily driver, something fast but usable
2. Something to take to the pub…. and leave there…
3. A Sunny day sport car
4. Performance for enjoyability – A Japanese state of the art
5. Something for the Wife and Kids
6. Something collectable

So here’s how mine pans out….

1. A daily driver, something fast but usable
For me this has to be the BMW M5, 4 doors, 10 cylinder, 500 (and 7) horse power, that’ll do nicely thanks!

2. Something to take to the pub…. and leave there…
Going back to my first ever car, and subsequently the one associated with most carefree driving at low cost and risk… the ‘Dysentery Brown Austin Maestro’ AKA ‘Turdy’ in our neck of the woods! you could leave it at the pub for a week and no one would clamp you, as the clamp is worth more than the car! very spacious, fun to drive, and looks pretty sharp if I must say so myself! 😉

3. A Sunny day sport car
For this one were going classic, the car that went a long way in contributing toward the fact that our motorway is limited to 70mph, The AC cobra! (AC supposedly tested there cars up the M1 at speeds of up to 180 mph, the ministry of transport didn’t like this… Arseholes! Powerbuldges, small block V8, no roof and a noise to dream about, when the suns out you have to be in one of these!

4. Performance for enjoyability – A Japanese state of the art
This particular category I could probably change year on year, but at the time of writing it has to be the Nissan GT-R, I’m not even going to list the pros of it, apart from that its handling and power for the price tag it has are nothing short of phenomenal! I give you the Nissan GT-R

5. Something for the Wife and Kids
Its gotta be big, carry lots of things, tow and you have to feel good driving it slowly, in which case it might as well be the Range Rover if money is no option, and you can let her have it in the week, and just use it on Sundays! 😀

6. Something collectable
I’ve owned one, I sold it, I wish I hadn’t, I want it again: a 1966 Volkswagen SO-42 Westfalia, however this time it has to be restored to the eyeballs, safari windows… the lot! weekend trips, car shows and general showing off without looking like a tosser (as I might do in any of the above, Maestro excluded) must be white over royal blue.
